Maternity Care

pregnantMidwives based at Probus Surgery will provide personalised care and choice throughout pregnancy and birth. Following a positive pregnancy test patients should contact the surgery giving full details of name, address and an accessible contact telephone number on which we can reach you to arrange your first appointment. We would normally wish to see you approximately 8 weeks into the pregnancy (i.e., 8 weeks from the date of the start of the last menstrual period). Following this initial appointment we will provide antenatal care and advice within clinics at Probus on Wednesday's.

Antenatal workshops for parents are held regularly and access to other helpful workshops and information are given, e.g. breastfeeding and yoga sessions.

The Truro team of midwives will be involved in the birth of your baby and we will provide postnatal care up to 28 days with the help and support of maternity support workers, after which the ongoing support for you and your baby will be transferred to the Health Visiting service.
